Writing a blog, writing a blog, look at me I'm writing a blog!

Tadaa!

Hello everybody, this'll be the first time I'll post without saying that it's been awhile! Only like a week :p

Well yesterday I went to the St.John's northwest rotary music festival. It was fun times, they did some really amazing songs and I had some great discoveries there. I saw the true greatness of music, decided I loved a certain song, and came up with some great noveling ideas.

Firstly, the song.

I decided that if Bane of Thunder ever became a movie, which I doubt it ever will, this song has to be in it somewhere! The song is called Butterfly and it's a wonderful acapella song that I've completely fell in love with! big grin

But throughout other songs as well a notion was growing that night. I was watching two people the most, one during only their performances, but the other the entire night (though the person changed, the position was usually always there).

The first of the two was my new Girlfriend. She was part of it, that was why I was there, and she did a wonderful job!

The second was the conductor, and something in that position resonated with something deep in me.

See I've always had this notion that the world had a misconception of leaders; that leaders are viewed as the controller or ruler when they are more accurately the representative of the group. A good leader of a nation should be a representative of the nation before a ruler of the nation.

But I found an exception; the conductor is a lot like a leader of the band, without the conductor the band will usually fail. But the conductor is not a representative, they are a true leader, but at the same time, a member of who they're leader, a brother.

But, that's off track.

What I'm getting at, is the conductor, is almost the mastermind behind everything, pulling everything together, all the pieces and plots into one. I liked that and it sparked the idea to have a character like that in my novel.

And then, the idea of having a character who I can only call "The Conductor" at the moment, sparked more ideas of generalizing all kinds of characters into one word titles. Like "Conductor" there'd be others like "Guardian" and such.

The day before that actually, I'd been reading about characters, specifically the character of Durzo Blint from "The Way of Shadows" by Brent Weeks (amazing book) and realized that my characters weren't anywhere near as solid as they need to be.

Majoron, now he's good enough, Elscythe is okay, not perfect but that's him too; imperfect. But other characters like Taeron for instance have no character. I need to build them, their lives, their history, and how they think, why they think, et cetera. But from there, I'd reconnected with a previous dream.

When I first jumped into this specific world of Fantasy in Bane of Thunder, I'd wanted to throw as much info as I could about the world onto paper but that soon faded away.

Now, I'm realizing that in order to completely create the solid characters I want, I'll have to SERIOUSLY do that. That means starting fr the beginning, and working to the "present day". I'll make the geography, the earliest tribes, and work and work until my brain falls off.

Yes I know that made no sense, but it's a challenge and the only thing I have to do right now is study for my Psychology final so I'll be working on my world instead.

Wish me luck everyone(And no one as no one really reads this)!
